Skype Practices

30-Minute Practice
Tuesdays, and
Thursdays at 1:00pm – 1:30pm

Tibetan House will be offering a short guided meditation via Skype during our extended Shelter at Home.

The 30-minute guided practice will be a means to take a break and settle into a quiet moment of wakeful stillness, gently and softly letting go.

This practice is kid friendly, as I am sure many of you are home with your family, as I am. This will be a simple, informal, comfortable guided practice for anyone, including beginners. You can sit on the floor or comfortably on a chair.

Directions for joining 30-minute practice on Skype:
Open Skype. Call Tibetan House New Orleans between 12:45pm to 12:58pm, CST. The earlier the better in case you have technical difficulties. This will give you time to get on the call and get situated. The practice will start promptly at 1pm.

As you call in you will be added to the group.  Once on Skype, please mute your microphone and turn off your video. If your microphone is on, even the most insignificant sound will be amplified for everyone else. The meditation will start at 1pm promptly and no one will be added to the call after that time.

If there are any technical difficulties calling in, please let us know at or text 504-330-3507 with a brief message about what’s happening. We will try to work out the kinks before the meditation starts. Thank you so much and we look forward to connecting with you!

60-Minute Practice
Sundays, 9:00am – 10:00am
Tuesdays, 9:00am – 10:00am
Thursdays, 9:00am – 10:00am and
Fridays, 10:00am-11:00am

There will be no evening classes.

This 60-minute meditation practice is our Sitting in Stillness drop-in class that we regularly offer, now  on Skype, with three extra days. Everyone welcome, any level of experience. We will be doing a horizontal practice in between two sitting practices. Please be prepared for that. For any new folks, that means having space to lay down, preferably with something soft under you, and bit of support under your head, a blanket if you think you might get chilled.

Directions for joining 60-minute practice on Skype:
Instructions for joining these Skype classes are different than the 30-minute practice. I will create a group call on my Skype account, and will be calling the group five minutes before start time. The ‘door’ will be locked, so to speak, at start time.

In order to join the group call, call my Skype address, gaelthompson, ahead of time. Best to do this now, or at least fifteen minutes before class time. This will give me your Skype address, which I will add to the group. If you have trouble with this, text me at 504 330 3507. If by chance you are not included in the call, make the call yourself. Hopefully I will see your call and add you to the practice.
