November 2019

Life always finds a way to remind us that nothing is permanent regardless of how intent we are on making it so.

Tibetan House in 2020!

We are saying good bye to our Gift Shop, and with the New Year we will be opening up the showroom space for events, rentals, classes, teachings, ceremonies, pop-up sales and hopefully much more.

The first step in this transformation is a

Great Big

“Goodbye Gift Shop”

Fond Farewell Sale!!!!!!

There is an abundance of wonderful gifts for the holiday season, and every gift comes with a story at Tibetan House.

Our original inspiration rested on the purchasing of statues, malas, ritual objects, thangkas, crafts from Tibetans in Exile, living in India and Nepal. It has been a profound, heart opening, and life changing experience. Almost every item purchased in the store right now was a transaction that involved eye contact, laughter, sharing and often an invitation into the home of the merchant or craftsperson. Each year we were met with warm embraces and remembrance, a feeling we hope has been infused into all the pieces we brought back to New Orleans.

It has been a pleasure and an honor to share all these gifts and memories with you. It is our intent that we continue the same transmission with our classes, events and ceremonies.

We will continue to carry prayer flags and incense, and a few other fabulous items. We’ll keep you posted!!

With love from Eva, Diana and Gael at Tibetan House

Fee: $40

Pre-registration required.

Encoded into every modality and philosophy of meditation is an experiential exploration of a part ourselves that most of us spend very little time with: the deep quiet place within. The transformative power of meditation begins with the daily practice of simply stepping into the sacred silence of this still space.

This day retreat will explore the terrain of the subtle inner realms we enter in meditation, the distractions that challenge the process, and the path to the center of your experience. We will address what happens when we sit still and close our eyes, and what doesn’t happen.

Come with a curious open mind and heart, and a willingness to enter deeper parts of your being. Designed for beginners as well as those of you wanting to further your practice.

Retreat led by Gael Thompson

A Special Buddha Gift

We invite you to come and fill a miniature Buddha, creating a beautiful and meaningful gift for someone, or for yourself!

Friday, November 29 and

Saturday, November 30

11:00am – 2:00pm

Friday, December 6 and

Saturday, December 7

11:00am – 2:00pm

Tibetan House

4900 Tchoupitoulas Street

Fee: cost of the Buddha statue, $17, $30 & $39 and a donation if you feel so inclined.

Pre-registration is required.

For Buddhist practitioners, a Buddha statue is filled with sacred and blessed objects and prayers, and then consecrated, to bring life to the Buddha statue. To fill the hollow part of a Buddha statue is an offering to the buddha represented, and the consecration is an invitation for the Buddha to abide in the statue.

Unless a Lama or Rinpoche is visiting, we are not able to do that for you when you purchase a statue from us. However, we do have blessed sand from the Sacred Sand Mandalas that we have hosted here in New Orleans. We also have seeds blessed by His Holiness Dalai Lama that were given to us by our dear friend Ngakpa Karma Lhundup Rinpoche. And, Karma la gave us permission to fill our small Buddhas with the sand, and seal them.

We invite you to come and fill your own Buddha, creating a beautiful and meaningful gift for someone, or for yourself!
