Tibetan House is very excited to presentAn evening with Thomas Laird
Thomas Laird is an American photographer, journalist and writer who has explored the art, culture, history, and modern life of Tibetan and Himalayan people for forty years. Fortunately for us, he currently divides his time between New Orleans and Asia.

On January 18, from 7 – 8:30pm, Laird will read from his book, The Story of Tibet, Conversations with the Dalai Lama, a history written with His Holiness the Dalai Lama–and will sign the book afterwards. For more than thirty years Laird has worked to document the greatest murals painted in Tibet during the past thousand years. He will speak about the murals from the Dalai Lama’s private mediation chapel, in the Lukhang, Lhasa–subject of an earlier book, “The Dalai Lamas’ Secret Temple”.  He will also show a five minute film about his upcoming book, “The Murals of Tibet”, TASCHEN publishing, 2015.
Several of Laird’s books will be available, and he will bring a few large format prints of Tibetan murals, images captured at life size, using new digital tools, to give us a glimpse of his new work.

Come join us on January 18, 7 – 8:30pm!  It will be a fascinating evening.
